Question by : Wake up call? Crystal Meth Addiction?
I’m 17 years old, fatherless, pretty much raised myself and everything I’ve done in life I did it myself because I had no one to turn to.

I’be been abusing drugs since I was 12. I smoke weed everyday, I used to take acid every weekend, I used to take a lot of pills, drink alot of cough medicine, prescriptions, anything I could get my hands on.. and just recently I was offered meth for the first time (where I actually considered it) It was offered many times before, but I just never went near it.

I’ve been smoking crystal meth for the past 5 days straight. I’ve smoked atleast a gram to myself over this 5 day period, I feel like shit, its coming down and I never want to go near it again because I can not stand what I feel like after. But I have a feeling I’ll want to do it again when I’m not coming down, but I’m not going near it.

So to make a long story short.
1. Am I going to have any permanent effects of that 5 day binge when I tried meth for the first time?
2. Will I feel the need to do more when I return to normal? Thanks..

That’s pretty intense. I’m sorry you’re going through this, man. *hugs through the internet*

You’ll probably want to do more when you’re back to normal but DON’T DO IT! If you quit now it will save you so much trouble, time and money!! I don’t know if there will be permanent effects, but you will crave it a lot and be very depressed and irritable for a short while. I cannot stress how much trouble it will save you if you can overcome the cravings.

Peace.

Question by georgy: d’ya think i should ask a doctor if i have add or adhd?
so it’s 6am lol, i’ve stayed up all night trying to write something for english, but every time i start to write i get distracted and do something else. i’ve been looking at a lot of drugs, mainly pot lol, and then adarall, which is an adhd drug i guess, and some guy said it made him do school better, and that reminded me of my little brother, who had adhd and took ridillin or whatever, and that made him calm down i guess.

idk, basically i’m socially awkward, easily distracted, and 3 of my step brothers have mental problems lol. and when i was a kid, i guess the school wanted to put me on meds but my parents didn’t want to… i think i’ll buy some adarall on the street and see what happens =p
eh sorry jerry, it seems that argument uses drug addiction and growth slowing as backing, i’m not worried about those things, so i’m still goin for adarall. that adhd self quiz was kind of cheezy i thought.

Questionairres for ADD or ADHD are at http://counsellingresource.com/quizzes/adhd/index.html (24 questions) & http://www.oneaddplace.com/add-test.php & http://addtestonline.com/ & http://psychcentral.com/ Go to : “QUIZZES AND TESTS: ADHD” & http://www.dore.com.au/ Print the completed ones, and take to a doctor, but avoid street drugs; you don’t really know what, or how old they are.

I don’t recommend any of the powerful, and addictive central nervous system stimulants. An increased incidence of abuse of cocaine, crack cocaine, crystal meth, and other amphetamines has been reported among users of Ritalin, and other amphetamine related medications, which may well predispose them to later abuse street drugs, with all the undesirable consequences involved. The only ADHD medication not in the stimulant family is Strattera, which is structurally related to the antidepressants, and carries risks, and side effects of its own.

Okay, so basically I started taking Aderall XR for about a month now, I use to be a very happy person, that just couldn’t seem to get a task done. So I decided to start Adderall, because that is what I was on as a child. I’m 16 now, and I’m attitude is awful, well I don’t know if it’s my attitude, it’s more like I’m very “IRRITABLE!!!!” I can’t stand any thing, If someone is eating the wrong way it DRIVES me insane, I would hate to see someone look at me the wrong way, while me being on this medication. Also I have horrid anxiety to the point where I can’t breath. I also can’t even focus. Like school work “what is that”? Lol That’s whats been going on since then. Is this normal? Will this blow over? I mean, I don’t want to keep dealing with this! It’s awful. I feel at times like i could kill myself, I also have somewhat of a depression issue anyways, and this is NOT helping. So please help. Do I need to try regular Adderall? NOT the XR? and a high dose? and or the same dose? I take 20 mg’s. OR try something else, PLEASE HELP if you recommend something else, please, could it be something that could possibly give me energy? or and make me happy, and still, have the weigh loss side effect.

Tweak: Growing Up on Methamphetamines Nic Sheff

Nic Sheff was drunk for the first time at age eleven. In the years that followed, he would regularly smoke pot, do cocaine and Ecstasy, and develop addictions to crystal meth and heroin. Even so, he felt like he would always be able to quit and put his life together whenever he needed to. It took a violent relapse one summer in California to convince him otherwise. In a voice that is raw and honest, Nic spares no detail in telling us the compelling, heartbreaking, and true story of his relapse and the road to recovery. As we watch Nic plunge the mental and physical depths of drug addiction, he paints a picture for us of a person at odds with his past, with his family, with his substances, and with himself. It’s a harrowing portrait — but not one without hope.

Shock Point by April Henry
“Cassie discovers that her stepfather, Rick, a teen psychiatrist, has been illegally prescribing a new behavioral drug to his patients—and three teens have died. Before she can report him, Rick commits Cassie to Peaceful Cove, a boot camp for troubled teens in Mexico. Cassie knows she has to get out now, before more teens die. But no one has ever escaped from Peaceful Cove alive—and even if Cassie gets over the walls and survives the Mexican desert, will anyone believe her story?”

“The wicked stepmother motif is altered to wicked stepfather in this contemporary chiller. Cassie, 16, has suffered a year of upheavals: her parents’ divorce, her mother’s remarriage^B and new pregnancy, and the discovery that her stepfather’s psychiatric practice revolves around an experimental drug that may have led to the suicides of several of his teen patients. Leading off is a horrific scene of Cassie’s abduction, masterminded by her stepfather, who planted crystal meth in her room and arranged for her to be taken to a juvenile “rehabilitation” center. Organization is a strong point here. In the first part, Henry effectively shuttles between Cassie’s imprisonment and the discoveries that lead to it. In the second part, Cassie must free herself and obtain evidence to save other teens from the deadly drug–all but impossible tasks in the Dickensian atmosphere of the teen facility. Along with solid plotting and suspense comes a likable heroine who’s a good match for the nefarious adults in her life”
